Punkpoet69's Online Fan Fiction
I can't stress enough about how my life has gotten to this point, where I probably spend more time explaining my fan fiction writing to people than I actually spend writing fan fiction.
I've been writing fic since the tender age of tweleve years old. With no outside push or suggestion, I took what the media told me had to be and I flipped it around and showed people what it could have been.
Don't get me wrong it's taken me a very long time to become someone who isn't ashamed of writing fic.
Fan fiction, for many people, is just a gateway drug to all other fiction writing. Sure, sometimes people do drift in and out of fandom, just like they drift in and out of any other hobbies or interests. But most of us are in this for life.
And to those that mock us... Who gives a fic?
Who Gives a Fic?
“Writing and reading fanfiction isn’t just something you do; it’s a way of thinking critically about the media you consume, of being aware of all the implicit assumptions that a canonical work carries with it, and of considering the possibility that those assumptions might not be the only way things have to be.” - Lev Grossman, Fic: Why Fanfiction is Taking Over the World
